Color is powerful because it evokes emotion. This article is taken from more of a decorator’s perspective, as opposed to a staging one, but it still has some helpful hints for choosing color.
I especially liked the one where she suggests using the colors in a piece of art, furniture, or even a rug. Paint is far cheaper than these things, so once you have your higher ticket items, THEN think about a paint that will coordinate with it.
Also, don’t make the mistake of going monochrome. Use accent colors to bring in warmth and brightness.
